The first season of SERENATA lasted from August 26, 2005 up to its debut concert, March 3, 2006. Out of the 75 children who auditioned for this season, only 45 passed, mostly girls and 3 boys.
Concert Its debut concert, entitled “SERENATA…songs from the heart” was held at the Saudi German Hospital Auditorium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia last March 3, 2006. It was a big success and it became famous in Jeddah. It introduced SERENATA and its songs, mostly Filipino and English. It was also shown in television by ABS-CBN’s The Filipino Channel. It had many sponsors, namely, Sheikh Khaled A. Bagedo of KAB Holdings, McDonalds, Giordano and Konica Minolta. Its main beneficiary was supposed to be the unfortunate pupils of the Balbalasang Elementary School in Balbalasang, Balbalan, Kalinga, Northern Philippines. However, the local government of Balbalasan gave financial support to the school and so it won’t need SERENATA’s financial support so SERENATA gave its financial support to the victims of the recent Southern Leyte mudslide in the Philippines.
Season 2 SERENATA plans to continue by Season 2 (2006-2007). Auditions will be held to know who will deserve to join the next season of the choir or not. Out of the 45 children who joined SERENATA’s Season 1, only a few of them will be invited to join its next season. The other members who won’t be picked will no longer have the chance to join its next season. Unlike the previous season, Season 2 will start in June, not August. |
