Series 60 is a user interface for mobile phones that is developed and marketed by Nokia. It runs on top of the Symbian OS operating system. Series 60 consists of a suite of libraries and standard applications, such as telephony, PIM tools, and multimedia players. It is intended to power fully-featured modern phones with large colour screens, which are commonly known as smartphones. An important feature of Series 60 phones is that they allow new applications to be installed after purchase.
Several mobile phone manufacturers have produced, or are producing, phones based on Series 60. These include Siemens, Panasonic, and Sendo, as well as Nokia itself.
Nokia has also produced a number of other user interface platforms, such as Series 40, Series 80 and Series 90.
