Encyclopedia > Seven Seas Lagoon

The Seven Seas Lagoon is the lake in front of the Magic Kingdom Park, at Walt Disney World, Florida. Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa and Disney's Polynesian Resort also have beaches on the Seven Seas Lagoon.

Guests of the Magic Kingdom cross the lagoon by either monorail or steamboat from the parking lot.

Fishing was not allowed in the Lagoon until the mid-1990s, some 25 years after Walt Disney World's opening, when guests at Disney hotels were permitted to fish. The plan was always there though, and fish were put in the lagoon in 1973 to breed.
