Story

Ex-con and expert safecracker Gary "Gal" Dove (Ray Winstone) has served his time behind bars and has blissfully retired to a Spanish villa paradise with his beloved wife, Deedee (Amanda Redman). He also has the company of longtime friend Aitch (Cavan Kendall) and his wife, Jackie (Julianne White). Their idyll is shattered by the arrival of an old criminal associate, the ornery mobster Don Logan (Ben Kingsley), who is intent on persuading Dove to return to London for one last big job. Logan is backed by gang boss Teddy Bass (Ian McShane), who, after buggering a banker named Harry (James Fox), has decided to pull a job on Harry's highly secure (and well furnished) bank vault. Logan, however, has his own agenda. In Spain, he terrorises the quartet of friends, and what was an assignment from the top has become a personal vendetta against Dove's happiness, incited by Logan's bitterness at his own inability to make relationships work. Sexy Beast has a plot, but like all great movies, the characters rise far above whatever the limitations of the plot might be.
It simply amazes me how great a movie Sexy Beast is. The camera work is great, from the colors chosen for each scene to the actual shots themsleves, like when the pool boy has a rabit lined up in his rifle's sights, everything is a delight to look at.
