Linguistically, the region is one of the regions with the most diverse languages. The majority of the population speak with May-May dialect's Digil version of the Dhoobey area. Also spoken in the region are Af Jido, Af Garre, Af Tuni, Af Reer Marka and Af Reer Barawe as well as standard Maha Tiri Somali and the May-May of the Mirifle.
