Although her intention was to release the album as a solo project, Fahey was pressured to release #3 as the third Shakespear's Sister album by her then-record company, London Records.
Co-written by Fahey, her ex-husband David A. Stewart and members of Fahey's new backing band, #3 was produced by Fahey, Stewart, Hormonally Yours-producer Alan Moulder, Andy Wright and Flood throughout 1995, 1996 and 1997.
Upon renewed interest in Shakespear's Sister material, a CD/DVD greatest hits package was released by London Records later the same year.
