Shamrock Lakes is a town located in Blackford County, Indiana. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 168.


Geography

Shamrock Lakes is located at 40°24'41" North, 85°25'37" West (40.411484, -85.426863)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.8 km˛ (0.3 mi˛). 0.7 km˛ (0.3 mi˛) of it is land and 0.1 km˛ (0.1 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 15.62% water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 168 people, 66 households, and 57 families residing in the town. The population density is 240.2/km˛ (626.3/mi˛). There are 69 housing units at an average density of 98.7/km˛ (257.2/mi˛). The racial makeup of the town is 99.40% White, 0.00% African American, 0.60% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 66 households out of which 31.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 80.3% are married couples living together, 4.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 13.6% are non-families. 9.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.55 and the average family size is 2.74.


In the town the population is spread out with 20.2% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 18.5% from 25 to 44, 43.5% from 45 to 64, and 10.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 46 years. For every 100 females there are 110.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 106.2 males.


The median income for a household in the town is $61,875, and the median income for a family is $65,250. Males have a median income of $46,250 versus $19,219 for females.
