Shamrock Rovers FC is a Irishfootball club playing in the Football League of Ireland. The club, founded in 1901, hails from Dublin suburb of Tallaght and play their home matches at Tallaght Stadium. Rovers won 4-1 Bohs with goals from Keith O'Neill (on his 21st birthday) after 28 secs, Stephen Nolan with two and one from Eoin Doyle.
Rovers started well and had a lot of the play but in a tight second half they just couldn't make the breakthrough although Tadhg Purcell's effort with just ten minutes remaining almost brought the sides level.
ShamrockRovers are without the suspended Barry Murphy and Paul Shiels, but other than the long-term injured Aidan Price and Padraig Amond, the Hoops will be at full-strength.
Further, the ShamrockRovers were one of the European club teams which spent the 1967 season in the United States founding the North American Soccer League, representing Boston as the Boston Rovers.
ShamrockRovers played the 2005 season in Dalymount Park, home to Dublin rivals Bohemian FC and are played the 2006 season at Tolka Park north Dublin.
ShamrockRovers experienced severe financial troubles during the 2005 season, due to overspending and an accumulation of massive debts and spent a period under Examinership (a form of financial administration).
