Shang Jiang (上將/上将) is a Chinese military rank. In the People's Liberation Army, it is the highest rank, equivalent to that of General or Admiral. In the period of 1988 - 2000 there existed the rank of First Class Shang Jiang (一级上将), equivalent to the rank of Da Jiang (大将), which existed from 1955 to 1965.
