Shanxi University山西大学),founded in 1902, was one of the three China's earliest national universities.( the other two were Tianjin University and Beijing University). Richard Timothy (李提摩太), an English missionary, was one of the co-founders. As the biggest in Shanxi Province, the university excels in spheres including Quantum Physics, Molecular Chemistry, Philosophy of Science and Technology,Translation and English Linguistics.


In particular, the Quanta Optics & Photons Apparatus Laboratory headed by the former President & Prof. PENG kunchi, the Chem-Biology & Molecular Engineering Laboratory led by the former Vice President & Prof.YANG Pin and the Research Centre of Philosophy of Science & Technology pioneered by the present President & Prof GUO Guichun take lead respectively in their fields in China.
