Shar Jackson began her acting her career at the age of three when she joined the Al Fann Theatrical Ensemble, where stars such as Laurence Fishburne had also trained. Shar also modeled with the John Robert Powers and Barbizon agencies until the age of eleven, when she decided to focus solely on a career in film and television. She wrote, directed, and produced a school film when she was just thirteen, an accomplishment which earned her the Award of Distinction from the Directors Guild of America. Shar appeared in many national commercials during her time with the Ensemble and won several guest-starring roles on shows such as Roc, My So-Called Life, Hangin' With Mr. Cooper, and The Steve Harvey Show before joining the cast of Moesha. Although tabloids have played up a supposed hostility towards Spears, Shar has said very little publicly about her feelings towards the future ex-wife of her children's father.
