Sharon was once a famous actress, just like Vivian Kudo (Yukiko Kudo). But her past is still shrouded with mysteries. It is not known how she became young again (Chris Vineyard) but many fans have agreed that she might had taken the 'original' version of the APTX 4869, first created by Shiho Miyano's father. Her talents include cloak-and-dagger and the ability to receive whatever she wants. And now as Chris Vineyard a.k.a "Vermouth" (Belmot (ベルモット, Berumotto?)in Japanese), her main objective is to eliminate Shiho Miyano a.k.a. Sherry (Ai Haibara). But as the plot unfolds, it turns out that she might have a plan or two of her own. When she was sent to eliminate Shiho Miyano, she didn't actually succeed as she was met by Conan Edogawa and he was able to discover her plan. She also encountered the FBI during this process. Vermouth has great interest in Conan and calls him, "Silver Bullet" and it is mentioned by Gin, that there is no such thing as Silver Bullet which can destroy them all. Shiho (codename: Sherry) is the scientist who created the Apoptoxin 4869 (APTX4869). ...

It is believed that Vermouth is protective of Ran and Shinichi/Conan because Ran has saved Vermouth once unknowingly in the Golden Apple case, and Shinichi because he is the son of her long-time friend Yukiko. This is apparent in the Bus Hijack case (as stated by Jodie, Vermouth did not do anything to Ai because Conan was present too), the Ai Kidnap case (Vermouth refused to harm Ran, who was protecting Ai), and the Kir case, where Vermouth tries to persuade Gin not to kill Kogoro and Conan.
At least the high-level members of the Organization seem to have been immunized (or at least made resistant) to the effects of drugs, in order to avoid capture and questioning. In the Ai Kidnap Case, Vermouth was able to withstand her own knockout gas, even though she was inside a closed car and making a prolonged speech, which would require her to breathe and thus inhale the gas. Her colleague Gin similarly withstood a shot from Conan's wrist dart-watch, which has previously knocked out anyone else.
Place in the Black Organization It has been mentioned that she is the the boss' (あの方, anokata?) favorite. This may be how she is able to get away with such traitorous actions as she has. It doesn't seem to give her carte blanche to do whatever she likes, however she seems to have much more freedom in her actions. Oddly enough she seems to be interested in supporting rather than destroying the "Silver Bullets" that could destroy the organization, Shuichi Akai and Conan. Shuichi Aki (赤井秀一), is a fictional character in the anime series Case Closed. ...
Trivia - Vermouth is the only member of the organization who knows that Ai Haibara is Shiho Miyano and that Conan is Shin'ichi.

- It is revealed in episode 345 that she killed Jodie's parents in a fire twenty years ago from the current storyline.
- Vermouth has a cameo in volume 24 (which corresponds with episodes 176-178) of the manga at a party during Sherry's reunion with the Black Corps. Her name "Chris" and ocuppation is listed underneath her, and she appears to be one of the suspects of the guy who is murdered by the chandelier falling on him.

- Vermouth does not appear to kill children in cold blood as she does adults. She doesn't kill Jodie upfront as a child (though she does burn her house down without caring that she's inside), and this is also revealed when she allows the boy who witnessed the Kir Case to live as well, stating to Gin that it doesn't matter if he was freed because he's just a boy.
- Vermouth also seems to have a guilt complex towards anyone she owes her life to, as evidenced by her hesitating to harm Shinichi/Conan and Ran in the Ai Kidnap case.
