The Shawinigan Cataractes are a major junior hockey team of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The team is based out of Shawinigan, Quebec. The team plays its home games at the Arena Jacques Plante. Their franchise was granted for the 1969-1970 season. They were known as the Bruins until 1974 when they became the Dynamos. They became the Cataractes in 1978.
