A sheading is any of the six administrative districts into which the Isle of Man is divided. Each one has a representative called a Coroner or Deemster. A person may fulful the role for multiple sheadings at the same time.
The vast majority of the members of the House of Keys are non-partisan (19), with two representatives from the Manx Labour Party and three from the Alliance for Progressive Government.
The six sheadings are Ayre, Glenfaba, Garff, Michael, Rushen and Middle.
The term 'sheading' is thought to be a Norse word for 'ship division'; each district was believed to be responsible for producing a certain number of warships.
