Character History

Sheila was a nurse who worked at Genoa City Memorial Hospital and immediately fell in love with the married Dr. Scott Grainger (Peter Barton). Her feelings for Scott quickly turned from infatuation and obsession to psychosis. In order to steal him away from his wife Lauren (Tracey E. Bregman), Sheila drugged him and slept with him, ending up pregnant. At the same time Lauren also became pregnant by Scott but didn't tell him. Sheila's baby died, unbeknownst to Scott, and she secretly switched Lauren's newborn with a black market baby, which Lauren named Dylan. Sheila began passing Lauren's baby off as her own, and Dylan eventually died from SIDS. Lauren eventually found out about the baby switch, but not before Sheila kidnapped both Lauren and her own mother, Molly Carter (Marilyn Alex), who knew the truth about Sheila's baby swapping, and almost succeeded in killing both women by accidentally setting the farmhouse they were imprisoned in on fire during a brief struggle with Lauren. Private Investigator Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) and his secretary, Lynne Bassett (Laura Bryan Birn), arrived and rescued both Lauren and Molly. Sheila was never found, and it was presumed by the authorities that she had perished in the fire when a body burned beyond recognition turned up in the ashes of the destroyed farmhouse. But it was not Sheila; it was the body of a meter man that had visited the house just before the fire started. Unknown to anyone, Sheila had escaped from the burning building. Picking up a discarded newspaper in an area diner, she read about an opening working as a company nurse for the Forresters in Los Angeles. Sheila quickly wormed her way into fashion CEO Eric Forrester (John McCook)'s life by becoming the company nurse at Forrester Creations, and later working as Rick Forrester's nanny (after threatening the former nanny, Judy, and her family). It wasn't long before Lauren found out that Sheila was alive and well living on the West Coast. Lauren followed her and they once again fought. Lauren threatened to expose Sheila to the Forrester family, but Sheila, always two steps ahead, turned the tables on Lauren by blackmailing her with pictures she took of Lauren sleeping with Brad Carlton (Don Diamont). Scott, who became ill, followed Lauren to L.A. and died shortly after in Catalina Island with both women by his side. His dying wish was that Lauren give Sheila a second chance. Lauren tearfully agreed. Sheila eventually married Eric, much to the anger of his ex-wife Stephanie (Susan Flannery), but she soon showed her true colours (by manipulating Bridget's paternity test, holding the Forrester family hostage and attempting to drive Stephanie insane by way of mercury poisoning) and he divorced her. Sheila was later placed in a mental institution, but did not remain there for long, despite Stephanie's attempts to keep her there for good. Sheila tried to develop a friendship with Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang), who sided with her at first, but later wanted nothing to do with her. This left Sheila feeling hurt and betrayed, as Brooke was Stephanie's only other enemy who had experienced the same harsh treatment from the Forrester matriarch. She found a new partner-in-crime in security guard Mike Guthrie (Ken Hanes), who assisted her in abducting psychiatrist James Warwick (Ian Buchanan), and later his other on/off love interest, Maggie Forrester (Barbara Crampton), who Mike held prisoner at an oceanside amusement park. Later, Maggie would give Sheila a dose of her own medicine by keeping her locked up, appropriately, in the house from Psycho at Universal Studios. There, she met Amber Moore (Adrienne Frantz), who she recommended to babysit for James and Maggie, so she could secretly visit Mary in LA. Amber was hired and kept her alliance with Sheila secret, although it wasn't long before Sheila took matters into her own hands and confronted Maggie directly. Maggie, realizing James and the baby were lost to her, later left LA. Erica (Courtnee Draper), who was completely unaware of her mother's past or her own real name, had traveled to L.A. to meet her idol - Amber Forrester. She soon developed a crush on Amber's husband, Rick (then played by Justin Torkildsen), although she never intended to act on her feelings. Sheila convinced Erica to seduce Rick, saying that a Forrester man would never abandon the woman carrying his child. She then paid off a man named Lance to drug Amber and take her to bed. In late 2003, she kidnapped Ridge and Brooke, while on their South American honeymoon. Soon Ridge's brother Nick Marone (Jack Wagner) arrived to rescue Ridge but he was soon captured by Sheila as well. When Ridge and Nick's father, Massimo Marone (Joseph Mascolo) arrived to deliver the ransom, Sheila revealed that she had a baby daughter, Diana, whom she claimed to be the result of a brief fling she had with Massimo during her previous trip to L.A. When Massimo tried (unsuccessfully) to trick Sheila into handing over the infant, she and Sugar ran away. Sheila returned to Genoa City in August 2005 and began terrorising Lauren once again, by indirectly turning her now-adult son Scott (Blair Redford) against her, under the alias "Brenda Harris". It was soon revealed that the woman in the mental institution who was believed to be Sheila (having turned herself in) was actually Sugar - Sheila had tricked her into having plastic surgery in order to look just like Sheila, and then turned Sugar in to the police. Meanwhile, the real Sheila developed another persona, "Jennifer Mitchell," by wearing a fake nose, wig, and speaking in a British accent. She allied with Tom Fisher (Roscoe Born), who helped her in her scheme to poison Lauren with a necklace that Scott would offer his mother as a gift. In exchange, Tom had Sheila manipulate Gloria Abbott (Judith Chapman) into giving him money and later bailing him out of prison. 2005 : January - February - March - April - May - June - July - August - September - October - November - December- → Deaths in August August 31: Michael Sheard August 26: Lord Fitt August 24: Jack Slipper August 24: Maurice Cowling August 24: Dr. Tom Pashby August 23: Brock Peters August 22: Lord Lane August 21: Robert Moog August... Sheila was accidentally freed from the prison cell she created for Lauren by Detective Maggie Sullivan (Tammy Lauren), Paul's girlfriend. After acting as a kidnap victim and pleading for Maggie's help, Maggie opened up the cell, and uncuffed Sheila. Sheila in return thanked her then choked her to the ground, bound her, and then shot her. Maggie survived the injury, which was only a flesh wound, but lost a lot of blood. Subsequently, Paul returned to the warehouse only to be ambushed by Sheila, who imprisoned both Paul and Maggie in the cell. Sheila and Phyllis then had a face to face. After overpowering Phyllis, Sheila proceeded to lure an unsuspecting Lauren and baby Fen into her clutches. After tying up Lauren, she fled with Phyllis and the babies captive. By this time, Michael had arrived at the warehouse and had freed Paul and Maggie, who was taken by paramedics to the hospital.

Posing as an elderly woman named Betsy, Sheila took Phyllis, Summer, and Fen (whom Sheila irrationally kept referring to as "Scotty") to a nearby retirement home to hide out. After learning of their location, Lauren went to the complex carrying a gun concealed in her purse. Following a tip from a neighbor, Lauren found Sheila's apartment and then broke down the door. Sheila and Phyllis argued over who was who, and Lauren screamed at them to stop. Sheila then ran to grab baby Summer to use her as a shield against Lauren as Phyllis yelled "Point the gun at me! Lauren, point the gun at me!" in order to protect her daughter. A frightened Lauren turned to Sheila and shot her in the chest. Sheila angrily hissed, "You shot the wrong one" as she fell into a chair.

Sheila taunted Lauren for the very last time by saying "You'll never be rid of me" before succumbing to her gunshot wound.
