Translation

The game was known for terrible Engrish translation combined with hilarious, often dirty, voice acting. Impressively in two-player mode, nearly every character combination has voiced interaction. Or rather it would be impressive were the these "discussions" not just plain weird. Some of the voices in two-player mode weren't even translated into English! One of the more infamous mis-translations: “Slaves for fashion dislike bulges.” While many players think it is porrly translated, the fact is that it was translated exactly to what it said in the original game. However, because English and Japanease are different languages, a raw translation would seem like Engrish. English translators usually fix it up to where a English speaking audience can comprehend. Sign in a toilet in Shanghai, instructing people to put used paper napkins in the wastebin Engrish is a pejorative slang term which refers to poor-quality attempts by Japanese writers to create English words and phrases; whether in mistranslation of an original Japanese language text, or in an attempt...

Public Opinion

In general, all of XS games receive poor advertisment budget (if any). Castle Shikigami 2 did not receive well in matter of sales due to lack of a markting campaign. However, many side scrolling shooters (shmups) sites and review sites have given it a moderate approval in gameplay and its funny translation. Even so, this was not enought for Castle Shikigami 2 to gain any reconization outside the hard core shmups audience.
