Shima Sakon (????-1600) a retainer of the japanese clans of Tsutsui and Toyotomi during the Azuchi-Momoyama Period of the 17th century. Sakon was initially a retainer under that of Tsutsui Junkei. However, Sakon soon left the Tsutsui and went on to serve under Ishida Mitsunari. Sakon soon on became a very great retainer under Mitsunari following the Sekigahara Campaign during the year of 1600. Sakon also became a very close friend of Mitsunari during that campaign. Sakon quarreled prior to the battle with Shimazu Yoshihiro when the latter suggested a night attack, in which Sakon opposed. During the Battle of Sekigahara Sakon personally led over some 1,000 men. It is said that while in battle Sakon was recognized as haveing the skill of the famous Honda Tadakatsu (one of 4 guardians of the Tokugawa). Sakon also weilded his famous two-handed falchion.
