Snow scene at Shipka Pass Shipka Pass (Bulgarian: Шипченски проход, Shipchenski prohod) is a scenic mountain pass through Stara Planina in Bulgaria. It is crossed by a road, which runs from Ruse on the Danube River to Stara Zagora and then on to Edirne in Turkey. The maximum altitude of the pass is 1,150 m (3,820 ft).
