Shorinjiryu is a name used by various styles of karate that evolved from Sokon Matsumura of Shuri-te lineage, through to Chotoku Kyan (1870-1945). Various disciples of Kyan carried on his teachings, synthesising their own methods and those acquired from other teachers, into their own systems.
