"Shout!" was a very popular and influential record by The Isley Brothers when it was released in 1959. Written by the brothers themselves, it was a call-and-response answer to Jackie Wilson's seminal "Lonely Teardrops". The ultimate tribute to the song, however, took place, in 1978 when during the frat party scene in Animal House, the cover band, Otis Day (played by DeWayne Jessie) & the Knights, performed "Shout" (dubbed using the voice of singer Lloyd Williams) where it was released and became a hit all over again. The song would go on to be the theme song for the commercial to a detergent also called "Shout!" A popular live-cover song for Green Day, which they perform exclusively at gigs. The song was also the basis for the ABC TV network jingles for 1989 and 1990 seasons. More recently the original version was remixed by Matter Music for a memorable sequence in the 2005 blockbuster film Wedding Crashers.
