A serial killer, dressed in same costume as Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer, has been trying to kill a series of high school teenagers, but they end up dying through a series of accidents. The five principle teenagers try to escape the serial killer who knows that they accidentially hit a deer, actually Dawson in a costume, a year ago. Hence, the slutty blond cheerleader, nerd, slightly punkish girl, and new kid, and Dawson spend the film getting notes from the serial killer and trying to avoid being the next victim. Tiffani-Amber Thiessen is on the scene as a cable television news reporter for MTV-type network, and published a book that falsely blamed Dawson for the murder of a group of teenagers at a summer camp. While going through the motions of the various odd goings on at the high school, the teenagers decide to hide away in a house, through a big party, and the punkish girl breaks the third wall.

Eventually the serial killer is revealed to the evil twin counsin of deputy Arnie and is promptly killed. The film ends with the punkish girl and the new kid getting together, the nerd losing his virginity (albeit to a male-female transexual), and a new serial killer, in the same costume, is targeting high school teenagers.

The film seems to promises a sequel, but none is planned.
