Encyclopedia > Side of a bus

There are two types of bus advertising.

Placards on the sides and rear of a bus are called 'boards'.

Decals covering the entire bus are called 'wraps'.

Advertising can also be found overhead inside the bus, on the bus stop benches and shelters.

The municipality will sell the rights to place advertising on public property to a media provider. A client will ask for a board to promote its product or approve the recommendation of the advertiser. An advertiser then asks a media broker to arrange for the purchase. The broker coordinates with the advertiser and the provider and collects a commission. The provider keeps the difference between what it collects and the payments it makes to the government agency.

Not many sought information on the bus stop itself which was indicative of their status as regular travellers rather people simply stopped walking in the general vicinity of the bus stop.
