As part of Takeda Shingen's drive to completely wipe out the remaining remnants of the Imagawa family, Shingen would follow in his attack of the Hanazawa castle in 1570. This castle was under the command of Imagawa general Ohara Sukenaga. Two senior retainers that would assist Shingen throughout this siege were Nagasaka Tsuruyasu, along with Hajikano Sa'emon, in which they greatly distinguished themselves throughout this siege. Ohara ended up defending the castle bravely for over four days, at the end of which ended in the fall of the castle.
