Sig++: Musical Signal Processing In C++ (603 words)
Sig++ is a set of C++ classes intended for use in creating sound synthesis/filtering programs -- primarily using the elegant and sophisticated environment of a Unix shell.
Sig is not graphical, unless someone else writes a graphical interface to do code generation, such as in SynthBuilder.
Sig is designed to be generalized C++ code as much as possible so that it will port easily to any computer with a C++ compiler with slight modifications only for hardware IO (today, we are in the Dark Ages of sound IO).
SIG REORG (3266 words)
As part of the planning effort, the Board charged the SIG Cabinet Director and Deputy Director with the task of investigating how best to re-organize the SIGs to ensure their vitality and help them be more flexible in meeting the needs of the Society.
The present organization of SIGs operates with a different energy level and on a different time scale, a level that does not support the need for ASIS to be a leader in areas like digital libraries and knowledge management.
SIG Steering Committee and SIG Cabinet are replaced by Division Directors and Council of Divisions.
