I like SimonSpurrier as a writer because he is very inventive and creative, and he is good at staying in a consistent 'voice' when writing for each of his characters.
Spurriers film reviews, pah, its those reviews that pay for his popcorn, jumbo hot dog and gallon of fanta, let him pay for his own movie tickets like everyone else.
Spurrier cleverly plants questions in the readerÂ’s mind throughout.
As Hiawatha grows in understanding, we too begin to realise that our main character has changes to make, and that their fates are going to lead to an ultimate clash with the Abbot.
Despite the occasional mildly irritating stray hyphen, SpurrierÂ’s story is told in confident prose, with some vivid and distinctive description.
