Simon Tong (born 1975, Wigan, England) was a guitarist and keyboardist for The Verve between 1996 and their break-up in 1999.
In July 2006, it was reported that Tong would again be working with Damon Albarn.
NME reported that Albarn had foregone plans to record a solo album and instead formed a new band which featured Tong with Albarn, former Clash bassist Paul Simonon and drummer Tony Allen.

As a replacement, the band chose old Wigan schoolmate Simon Tong to fill in the lead guitar duties for the remainder of the tour.
After the band's final collapse, Simon Jones and Simon Tong formed a new group called The Shining as well as working with former Stone Roses-guitarist John Squire on a group that never properly formed.
Tong has also appeared as a live replacement for ex-guitarist Graham Coxon in Blur and the additional guitarist for Gorillaz.
