Simpson is a village located in Johnson County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 54.

Geography

Simpson is located at 37°28'5" North, 88°45'23" West (37.467977, -88.756277)¹.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.3 km² (0.5 mi²). 1.3 km² (0.5 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 54 people, 21 households, and 17 families residing in the village. The population density is 40.1/km² (103.4/mi²). There are 25 housing units at an average density of 18.6/km² (47.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 88.89% White, 7.41% African American, 1.85% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.85% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 9.26% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 21 households out of which 42.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.7% are married couples living together, 9.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 19.0% are non-families. 19.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.57 and the average family size is 2.88.

In the village the population is spread out with 27.8% under the age of 18, 14.8% from 18 to 24, 22.2% from 25 to 44, 25.9% from 45 to 64, and 9.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 107.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 85.7 males.
