Trivia:

  • The only track to feature drums on the album is "Baby it's Alright"
  • The album was renamed "If You Could Read My Mind" shortly after release, due to that song making #5 on the charts.
  • This was Lightfoot's first album on the Reprise Records label. He was previously with United Artists Records, but left because he believed they did not promote his albums well enough.
  • A small number of vinyl copies contain no title. The reason for this is that when first releases, there was originally just supposed to be the picture of lightfoot, no title, but the title was added very shortly after because it was thought that it's prescence would increase sales.
  • First studio album to feature long-time Lightfoot bassist Rick Haynes.
