Sittard-Geleen is a municipality in the southeastern Netherlands. It was formed in 2001 from the former municipalities Sittard, Geleen and Born.

Sittard

Sittard is a city with 48,400 inhabitants. It is the home of the professional soccer club Fortuna Sittard. The Sabic European head office, as well as large DSM office and production facilities, are based in this city. Sittard was granted city rights in 1243. Sittard was a small stronghold , until a great part of it was destroyed in the 'rampjaar' 1672. It's geographical data are:

Geleen

Geleen is a large town with 33,960 inhabitants. The multinational chemical company DSM, formerly Dutch State Mines, with headquarters in Heerlen, has traditionally owned expansive preduction facilities just west of Geleen, some of which have recently been sold off to Sabic. The soccer club Fortuna was the former soccer club of Geleen. Also the Rock festival Pinkpop has its roots in Geleen. This festival was held in the park where now the swimming pool has been built. Born

Sittard (Limburgs: Zitterd) is een stad in Nederlands Limburg, en specifieker in de regio Westelijke Mijnstreek.
Sittard zelf ligt enkele kilometers van de autosnelweg A2, waarmee Eindhoven in minder dan een uur te bereiken is en Maastricht in minder dan een half uur.
Sittard heeft ook een relatief belangrijk NS-station, waar de lijn uit het noorden (vanuit Roermond) zich splitst in een lijn richting Maastricht en een lijn richting Heerlen.
