History

The airline was established in 1996 and started operations in May 1998. It was founded by Viliam Veteska and a group of private investors. In January 2005 Austrian Airlines acquired the majority stake (62%) in the company. Services

Slovak Airlines operates international scheduled service to Brussels seven times a week in codeshare with Austrian Airlines and to Moscow Sheremetyevo four times a week with Aeroflot (at December 2006). Both flights are operated by Fokker 100 aircraft. The airline also flew for Italian travel agencies a weekly Brescia - Rhodos service with the Boeing 737 - 300 aircraft. The smaller 100-seat Fokker 100 was used on the following charter flights for Greek travel agencies: Bratislava - Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki - Chania, Chios, Kos, Rhodos, Samos, Santorini. In winter 2006/2007 OM-AAE is based in Tripoli to operate flights for Libyan Arab Airlines.

  • one Boeing 737-300 (OM-AAA), now as LN-KKR with Norwegian
  • one Fokker 100 (OE-LVG), leased from Austrian for a short time between February 2005 and June 2005
