SnowHill was founded in 1642 by English settlers from a division of the City of London named "SnowHill." The town received its first charter on the October 26, 1686, and was made a port of entry in 1694.
SnowHill also became an attractive place for craft specialists, who became markedly successful not only because of the local population, but also due to the town's proximity to a navigable river which allowed both import and export of goods.
Today, the Town of SnowHill is a community of over 2400 residents with a combination of residential, commercial, rural and historical districts.
SnowHill was re-built in 1871 to accommodate longer trains.
SnowHill was recommended for closure, and all services were switched to the former LMS New Street Station.
In 2003, the original gates and booking hall sign from SnowHill were incorporated into the old Moor Street station, with its ticket office brought back into use, for trains using the 1987 platforms, but the old platforms remained mothballed, awaiting reopening (scheduled for 2009).
