The first marketed snowboard was called the Snurfer. The Snurfer was created in 1965 by Sherman Poppen in Muskegon Michigon. Poppen was out side his house one day sleding with his daughters, when his 11 year was going down the hill, standing on her old sled. Poppen then ran in side his shop and bound two skis together. Poppen used a string and tied it to the noise of the board so the rider could have control of the board. Poppen's wife called it the Snurfer, soon after creating the frist on Poppen's daughters freinds all wanted one. Sherman Poppen licensed the concept to Brunswick Bowling to manufactor the Snurfer. The Snurfer's retail price was $10-$30. Poppen sold half a million Snurfer's threw 1966-1976. Poppen also held Snurfer Competitions in the 70's which attracted Snurfer from all over America. One man Poppen attracted to his Snurfer events was Jake Burton. Burton then beacme the worlds biggest Snowboard manufacturer. Wikipedia does not have an article with this exact name. ...
