History

Caxias was founded in 1935, as Grêmio Esportivo Flamengo, which had been a fusion of two other teams (Rui Barbosa and Rio Branco). However the club, as well as Juventude folded due to a financial crisis in the 1960s. On December 14, 1971 both teams merged into Associação Caxias de Futebol. In 1975, Juventude back down from Associação Caxias de Futebol, and Grêmio Esportivo Flamengo adopted the name Sociedade Esportiva e Recreativa Caxias do Sul. Anthem

Ser Caxias é ser desportista
E um bravo honrador da história
Seguir sempre com muita justiça
A longa impávida senda da glória
O passado, o suor e a esperança,
Um presente de glória e emoção
Jubilando os nossos desportos, consagrados
por esta nação.
Meu sangue é grená e azul
Aliado ao branco pureza
Me dá vida e orgulho, ô Caxias
A minha alegria é a tua grandeza.
Ô bandeira em punho desfraldada
Tu hás de muito brilhar
nosso povo cheio de fervor
Na alegria ou na dor há de sempre gritar...
