The Society for Art of imagnation is an international artists membership society whose stated mission is to promote art of Vision and Craftsmanship. Artists are welcome to join. Send an e-mail to Michel de St Ouen at MDeSaint17@aol.com for UK and Europe, or to France Garrido fgarrido912@optonline.net for USA & Canada.


They have branches all over the world. The American branch is a registered US Charity. The website, run by Web Director, Stephen Lombardi, is www.artofimagination.org. They are affilited with many other Visionary art groups including the Fantastic Art Centre in South Africa.


Some of their Honorary Art Members are Ernst Fuchs, H R Giger, Robert Venosa, Martina Hoffmann, Alex Grey, Laurie Lipton, De Es, and Ingo Swann.


The SAI has annual art shows all over the world. They have recently accepted a partnership role in the new Paradiso project - a Museum and Culturepark in Vienna affiliated to the Ernst Fuchs Museum. They publish a magzine called Inscape."


The SAI was founded in 1961 by a group of artists from England, calling themselves the Inscape Group. They included Diana Hesketh, Peter Holland, Brigid Marlin, Jack Ray and Steve Snell.

The daughter of the imagination – the logical and legitimate daughter – is the metaphor, which is sometimes born from a sudden stroke of intuition and sometimes brought to light by the slow anguish of forethought.
Imagination assaults the theme furiously from all sides, but inspiration receives it suddenly and wraps it in subtle, pulsing light, like those huge carnivorous flowers that envelop the trembling bee and dissolve it in the acrid juice exuded by its merciless petals.
Imagination is intelligent, orderly, full of equilibrium, but inspiration is sometimes incongruent – it does not recognize man, and often it places a livid worm in the clear eyes of our muse.
