Sodegaura (Japanese: 袖ヶ浦市; -shi) is a city located in Chiba, Japan.


As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 59,259 and the density of 624.30 persons per kmē. The total area is 94.92 kmē.


The city was founded on April 1, 1991.

Sodegaura city in Chiba Prefecture adopted its emblem on 3 November 1971
It also says that designs for the city emblem were accepted from the Sodegaura Neighbourhood Middle School in 1956 and the work of Kiyoko Suzuki was chosen.
The emblem has a crescent and small circle in the centre top, with a small horizontal line above a horizontal line which turns downwards on each side of it completing the whole circular shape.

Chiba's population is one of the wealthiest in Japan due to the prefecture's strong commercial and industrial sectors.
