Solid State Records is a Christian record label, a division of Tooth & Nail Records. Unlike Tooth & Nail, Solid State signs metal and hardcore bands. Like Tooth & Nail, Solid State is primarily a Christian label. However, they have signed several bands that don't label themselves as Christian, including The Agony Scene, Stretch Arm Strong, He Is Legend, and Training For Utopia. SST Records is a Lawndale, California based independent record label formed in 1978 in Long Beach, California by Black Flag founder/guitarist Greg Ginn.
The name SST stood for "Solid State Tuners" although the abbreviated form became the predominant name as time went on.
Dinosaur Jr's SST releases have been reissued on Merge Records, and in 2005, Hüsker Dü made similar claims of accounting irregularities, and are pursuing legal action against SST because they claim that they are owed large sums of money and do not know the sales numbers of their records released on the label.
