Because Solidus is missing his left eye, he is less likely to see and defend against attacks from his left.
The key to avoiding this attack is to stay in one place while Solidus is fire-streaking around and prepare for a final charge.
In my opinion, Solidus gets easier in his second form, but that's just me. There is a simple secret you have to know: in Normal and above, he basically blocks every attack you throw at him.

Solidus Snake is one of the three "Sons of Big Boss", created as part of the Les Enfants Terribles project.
In the project, one of the clones was to carry all of Big Boss' dominant genes (Solid Snake), and one was to carry all of his recessive genes (Liquid Snake), and one was to have a perfect balance of dominant and recessive genes (Solidus).
But because Solidus accidentally revealed the existence of Metal Gear REX and the GENOME Army to the public, he was removed from Presidency and went underground when he heard the Patriots were planning to kill him off.
