Encyclopedia > Solomon of Hungary

Solomon of Hungary (1053-1074) was the King of Hungary between 1063 and 1074. Solomon was the son of Andrew I of Hungary. Solomon ascended to the throne at the age of 10 following the deaths of his father and uncle, who had previously fought the war over Andrew's efforts to secure the throne for him. Little is known about Solomon's reign, and due to the fact that he died shortly after becoming old enough to rule, he had no significant accomplishments. He also had no children, so upon his death the throne was passed down to his cousin, Geza.
