Sonagazi is located at 22.8500° N 91.3917° E . It has 37184 units of house hold and total area 235.07 km².


It is situated in the southern part of the district, the only Upazila to have a coastline with the Bay of Bengal. Sonagazi is noted for its natural beauty, a sluice gate built in the late 1970s to control water flow of the Feni river is a popular tourist destination as well.
