Sora is fourteen years old at the beginning of Kingdom Hearts and lives on the Destiny Islands with his best friends Riku and Kairi, and others including, Selphie, Tidus, and Wakka.
Sora ends up traversing multiple worlds to stop the Heartless, the creatures that embody the darkness, and also rescue the Seven Princesses of Heart, who are the key to opening the final keyhole that will unlock Kingdom Hearts, the objective of the villains controlling the Heartless.
Sora and Riku are separated from Mickey, Goofy, Kairi and Donald.
