Sororal polygyny is a form of polygamous marriage in which two or more sisters share one husband or more. It is practised under the belief that there is less likely to be rivalry between the wives as the sisters have been raised together, have preexisting emotional bonds and are therefore less likely to be jealous of each other. Polygamy, literally many marriages in ancient Greek, is a marital practice in which a person has more than one spouse simultaneously (as opposed to monogamy where each person has a maximum of one spouse at any one time). ...
