Soundsystem is originally a term from reggae and it goes way back to the late 60's Jamaica.
It's this and the culture of outdoor soundsystems that have inspired them to start similar things using the music of their background, mixing it with lots of different other styles that they are into.
With the new album they've spent most of the spring on the road in Europe and are also scheduled for loads of festivals all over the world in summer 00.
The long-awaited eponymous debut album from LCD Soundsystem is due to be released on 21 January.
LCD Soundsystem is the alter-ego of James Murphy, one half of New York production duo and label DFA, and the creator of such dancefloor favourites as 'Losing My Edge', 'Beat Connection' and 'Movement'.
Described as "a dance-rock party album full of dirty sounds and nasty grooves", LCD Soundsystem's debut is a double album featuring nine new tracks on one disc, with the second disc featuring the CD debuts of 'Losing My Edge', 'Beat Connection', 'Give It Up', 'Tired' and 'Yeah'.
