South Acton tube station was a station on the western end of the London Underground's District Line, formerly located at Ordnance Surveygrid referenceTQ201792 (http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=public&GridE=520100&GridN=179200&coordsys=gb&db=grid&addr1=&client=public&addr2=&advanced=&addr3=&pc=&quicksearch=TQ201792&cidr_client=none&coordsys=gb). The station is now of the many closed London Underground stations.
The station was located on a short spur line from Acton Town. It had originally been opened for goods trains on 15 May1899 but passenger services were only introduced on 13 June1905, with a station located just to the west of the North London Railway's station of the same name. It initially had through services provided to Hounslow Barracks (now Hounslow West) and South Acton. However, the line was relatively little used and soon became a one-car shuttle service between Acton Town and South Acton, which was terminated on 28 February1959.
Nothing now remains of South Acton's District Line station, although the North London Line station of the same name continues to be well used. A few bridgeheads and sections of the old trackbed survive to indicate the route.
