South Carrollton is a city located in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 184.

Geography

South Carrollton is located at 37°20'12" North, 87°8'30" West (37.336799, -87.141719)¹.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.6 km² (0.2 mi²). 0.6 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 184 people, 70 households, and 53 families residing in the city. The population density is 296.0/km² (759.2/mi²). There are 80 housing units at an average density of 128.7/km² (330.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 97.28% White, 0.54% African American, 0.54% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.63% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 70 households out of which 35.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.0% are married couples living together, 12.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.9% are non-families. 17.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.63 and the average family size is 2.94.

In the city the population is spread out with 22.8% under the age of 18, 9.8% from 18 to 24, 32.1% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 13.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 109.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 118.5 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $27,500, and the median income for a family is $38,750. Males have a median income of $33,125 versus $14,375 for females.
