The South Pacific Mandate refers to a group of islands in Micronesia. Adminstrative control of certain island territories passed to Japan after World War I. Because of Japanese actions taken against possessions of the German Empire, Japan was given a League of Nations Mandate, covering the Carolines, Marianas, Marshall Islands and Palau groups) — excepting Guam, remaining in U.
