The City of South Perth is a Local Government Area of Western Australia. It covers an area of approximately 19.9 square kilometers in metropolitan Perth, the capital of Western Australia and lies about 4 km south of the Perth CBD. The City of South Perth maintains 203 km of roads, a little over 4.3 kmē of parks and gardens and has a population of 36,108.


South Perth is also a suburb within this municipality.

The Township of Perth South was formed in 1998 by an amalgamation of the Township of Downie and the Township of Blanshard.
Perth South borders Stratford at the northern boundary and surrounds St.Marys.
The names of the Perth County Townships were all a result of the 1998 amalgation of 11 townships into four and are derived from their position in Perth County.
