A 20-mile tarmac road South Point Road leads to South Point from Highway-11, the turn off being about 7-miles West of the village of Naalehu. From the end of the tarmac road, a series of dirt-tracks cross the area, leading most notably to the Green Sand Beach, Hawaii. The vertical cliffs dropping into the ocean at south point make a popular fishing location. Also notable are large holes drilled vertically into the lave rock - these are ancient canoe moorings.


Visitors to the area will also notice the Kamaoa Wind Farm - a wind powered electricity generation farm consisting 37 250-[kW] [wind turbine]s, with a total peak output of 9.3MW, which typically delivers 15,000-MWh of power to the island electrical grid.
