South Russell is a village located in Geauga County, Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 4,022.

Geography

South Russell is located at 41°25'56" North, 81°20'25" West (41.432175, -81.340201)¹.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 10.0 km² (3.9 mi²). 10.0 km² (3.8 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.77% water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 4,022 people, 1,364 households, and 1,159 families residing in the village. The population density is 403.4/km² (1,043.6/mi²). There are 1,401 housing units at an average density of 140.5/km² (363.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 98.43% White, 0.35% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.80% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.42% from two or more races. 0.72% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,364 households out of which 47.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 77.6% are married couples living together, 5.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 15.0% are non-families. 13.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.95 and the average family size is 3.26.

In the village the population is spread out with 32.8% under the age of 18, 3.8% from 18 to 24, 23.7% from 25 to 44, 28.8% from 45 to 64, and 10.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 96.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 91.3 males.
