Special Aspects of Southport Southport has a small area called Downtown Southport. It is located on Southport Road between Madison Avenue and McFarland Road. Downtown consists of antique shops, the Southport Police Station, and the famous Long's Bakery. Long's Bakery is a one of two local family owned bakeries, the other is located on the northeast side of Indianapolis. Long's Bakery always has lines wrapped outside around the door, with always pleased customers. A ballroom dance studio is also located in Downtown Southport. An outsider must be aware of the Southport Police while driving in Downtown Southport because the speed limit is 25 mph where there are all the shops and homes along the road. The Police Station can be rented out for parties or get togethers.
During Christmas time, the town always puts up different decorations along the street lamps. During the Fourth of July, the town always puts out American Flags. During Halloween, the Southport Police Station has a haunted house through the station.
