The Soyombo script was created by Bogdo Zanabazar, a Mongolian monk and scholar, in 1686. It is based on the Devanagari alphabet. It is used mainly for inscriptions on prayer wheels and temples. It can also be used to write the Tibetan & Sanskrit language. The first character of the script became the national symbol of Mongolia and as such it can be found on money, official documents, official stamps, and many other things as well.
